Cursor with Muapi
Use the Muapi Cursor plugin to add image, video, and audio tools to Cursor's agent. If you also want Muapi text inference, configure the OpenAI-compatible chat connection when your Cursor version exposes Override OpenAI Base URL. Cursor's custom API keys apply to standard chat models; features that require specialized built-in models, such as tab completion, may continue using Cursor's models.
Add Muapi media tools
- Install the Muapi plugin from the Cursor Marketplace.
- Create an API key in the Muapi dashboard.
- When prompted, provide the key as
MUAPI_API_KEYand save it through Cursor's secure plugin settings. - Start a new agent chat and ask it to generate or edit an image, video, or audio asset.
See the plugin repository for the current Marketplace listing and supported tools.
Before you start
- Create an API key in the Muapi dashboard.
- Check the available text models at
https://api.muapi.ai/v1/models?type=text. Choose a model from this list; tool use depends on the model'scapabilities.toolsvalue.
Optional: use Muapi text inference
The text model connection is separate from the media plugin. Create an API key, then follow the model setup below if your Cursor version exposes an OpenAI base URL override.
Configure Cursor
- Open Cursor Settings → Models.
- Add or enable a custom model and enter its exact Muapi text model ID, such as
qwen-3-8-27b-obliterated. - Enter your Muapi key in the OpenAI API Key field.
- Set Override OpenAI Base URL to
https://api.muapi.ai/v1. - Save and verify the connection, then choose the custom model in chat.
The base URL is the API root; do not append /chat/completions.
Troubleshooting
- Model not found: use an exact text model ID from
/v1/models?type=text, not an image model ID. - Tool calls fail: choose a model with
capabilities.tools: true. - Base URL error: use
https://api.muapi.ai/v1with no trailing endpoint path. - Custom base URL setting missing: update Cursor and check Cursor's API key documentation for current BYOK support and limitations.
