Aider with Muapi

Use Aider with Muapi's OpenAI-compatible chat-completions API. Aider sends code context to the selected model; choose a model with strong code ability and verify its context and output limits before large changes.

1. Create a Muapi API key

Create an API key in the Muapi dashboard. Keep it in an environment variable or a local .env file and do not commit it.

2. Find a text model ID

Muapi's OpenAI-compatible model list includes text models and their capabilities:

curl -s https://api.muapi.ai/v1/models?type=text \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MUAPI_API_KEY"

For Aider's repo editing workflow, select a model whose capabilities.tools value is true and which performs well on coding tasks. The exact set can change as Muapi's model catalog changes.

3. Configure Aider

Install Aider using its installation guide, then set the OpenAI-compatible endpoint and key:

export OPENAI_API_BASE="https://api.muapi.ai/v1"
export OPENAI_API_KEY="$MUAPI_API_KEY"
aider --model openai/qwen-3-8-27b-obliterated

Replace the sample model with an available text model ID. Aider prefixes custom OpenAI-compatible model names with openai/; the prefix is for Aider and is not part of the Muapi model ID. If Aider reports that it does not know the model, configure its model settings and metadata using Aider's OpenAI-compatible model guide.

Notes

  • Muapi's chat endpoint is POST https://api.muapi.ai/v1/chat/completions; use the base URL above without the endpoint suffix.
  • Only the text models returned by Muapi's model list are available here. Image-generation model IDs are not chat models.
  • Aider's token and cost estimates may not match Muapi billing. Check actual usage in your Muapi dashboard.
  • For Aider configuration options, see the Aider docs.
