Overview

About this model

Grok Imagine Extend lets you continue and expand existing Grok Imagine video generations, maintaining visual style, motion, and audio consistency throughout. Built by xAI, this model accepts a request_id from a previous Grok video and a guiding text prompt to seamlessly append 6 or 10 seconds of new footage. It supports 480p and 720p resolutions and can be chained multiple times to build longer sequences from a single starting point.

1Video extension: Continue a Grok Imagine generation beyond its original length with a new prompt.
2Scene building: Chain multiple extensions to construct longer narrative sequences shot by shot.
3Style-consistent B-roll: Generate additional footage that matches the visual style of an existing clip.
4Iterative storytelling: Refine and expand a video concept through sequential extension rounds.
5Long-form content: Build multi-minute videos from short 6–10 second building blocks.

How to Use Grok Imagine Extend

  1. Get a Request ID — First generate a base video with Grok Imagine (text-to-video or image-to-video). Copy the request_id from the completed result.

  2. Set Up the Extension:

    • Paste the request_id into the Request Id field.
    • Write a prompt describing how you want the video to continue (e.g., "The camera slowly pans left to reveal the city skyline").
    • Choose the extend duration: 6 seconds or 10 seconds.
    • Select resolution: 480p (faster, lower cost) or 720p (higher quality).

  3. Generate — Submit to the grok-imagine-extend endpoint via the Muapi API. The model appends new footage from where the original clip ended.

  4. Iterate — You can extend the same video multiple times. Each extension uses the latest request_id to continue from the new end frame.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

What is Grok Imagine Extend?

Grok Imagine Extend is an xAI model that continues an existing Grok Imagine video generation. You provide a request_id from a previous Grok video and a text prompt; the model appends 6 or 10 seconds of new footage while maintaining visual and audio consistency with the original clip.

How much does Grok Imagine Extend cost?

Pricing varies by duration and resolution: 6s at 480p costs $0.05 per generation, 6s at 720p costs $0.10, 10s at 480p costs $0.10, and 10s at 720p costs $0.15. All billed pay-per-generation with no subscription required.

Can I extend a video more than once?

Yes. Each successful extension returns a new request_id. You can use that ID to extend again, chaining extensions to build longer sequences from a single starting clip.

What resolutions are supported?

Grok Imagine Extend supports 480p for faster, lower-cost generations and 720p for higher-quality output. Choose based on your end-use platform and budget.
